Vidar's Chair Completed!

IMG_0736.jpg

Today marks the end of Phase 1 of my chair making journey as the final photos of Vidar's Chair have now been posted to the website gallery. I've learned a lot working on this piece and am eager to give my best effort to chair number two. I hope you will check out the rest of the photos in the gallery. I really like this chair which was originally designed and made in about 1970 by Swedish furniture maker, Vidar Malmsten. I don't think I could have found a better piece in which to study traditional chair making. The strong, clean lines of this chair give it a timelessness that make it as comforting to be with as it is comfortable to be on. And, of course, it was great fun to make!

Over the next couple of months I'll be designing and making a second chair for Phase 2 of my chair making journey. Stay tuned. I know it'll be a challenging project, but I'm really looking forward to diving in.

Hej då!
