Crest Rail Finale
With restoration completed, the Vidar's Chair crest rail was ready for final shaping and surface preparation. Drawing the spokeshave over the part, I carefully prepared the surfaces and softened edges.
This process is especially enjoyable. It's a quiet time as I work the tool over the wood, getting immediate feedback of the surface quality; both visual and tactile.
After final fitting of the crest rail to the tops of the legs, I paused to take a photo of the completed part and... ahh... saver the moment.
It's quite a relief to have this rascal crest rail finally tamed. If you've missed the earlier action, please check out the blog archive for coverage of the great crest rail adventure of 2014.
Next are the back splats. I have a good start on them already and will post on that subject very soon.
Hej då!
