Cabinet Assembly Prep

Preparing the panels for assembly requires several steps. First, all the surfaces are hand planed to near final condition. Next, the panels are edge jointed to their exact final size.

Mortises are cut.

And the hinges are fitted.

Six hinges in all.

Then I cut slots to receive splines to help align the joints for glue-up. Final fitting will continue tomorrow.

Then it's final surface prep, edge softening and prefinishing, with glue-ups of the main cabinet section happening later this week.
