Comissioning a Piece
I truly enjoy working with clients in creating new textiles. What's exciting is that the possibilities are endless, and that there are several ways to go about it. For example, maybe you’d like one of my existing scarf designs in a new color palette, or would like to adapt a towel design to create a table runner, or maybe you would like to commission a truly unique piece designed just for you or for a special occasion. All these possibilities are what make it fun, and it all starts with a simple conversation.
We will first sit down together, either in person or by phone, to discuss the project you have in mind. We'll talk about function, colors, suitable materials, overall look, etc. We'll bounce ideas around to find just the right combination for you. This may take just a short time, or we may want to mull over options and have a series of conversations. Your project is unique, so we're bound to have some fun discovering new possibilities along the way.
When your piece is sufficiently defined, I will provide a quote for you, including a description of the piece, its cost and an estimated schedule. A 50% deposit will be required before I begin. Depending on the project scope, I may weave samples for you, to make sure we are all on the same page and you are getting what you want from this experience. I welcome continued conversation throughout the process, to final payment and delivery, and beyond.
I thoroughly enjoy every aspect of handweaving, from the germ of a design idea to the final pressing of the cloth, and I invite you to join in that journey with me.
Let's get started, shall we?
